5 Stars Hours of enjoyment
I’m sorry, I’m addicted to this game - but I liked Civ on the PC too. The multilayer aspect is great. Well done Sid! More!
3 Stars Fun if you’ve never played the PC version
This game is not as good as the PC version. I would recommend it only for someone who wants to get his/her feet wet with Civilization games. Once they’ve acquired a liking, they should move up to the PC where the game play is much more interesting and addictive. I bought this game new, played it once, beat it, and have never picked it up again after six months.
5 Stars Best RTS game on a console
i really enjoy this game. i keep running out of time once my civ reaches outter space. im still trying to figure out online play. it seems i get destroyed there. i dont know how people get so advanced so quickly on there.
4 Stars It’s pretty good.
I have Civ 4, Warlords, etc… and I was somewhat disappointed with Civ Revolution.
Something that I found interesting…the barbarians aren’t aggressive. At all. Meaning–you don’t have to worry about them trying to raze your city to the ground. They’re pretty weak and docile. They’re ‘goodie huts’.
The barbarian scenario was a joke, imo.
…too bad the other civilizations aren’t! Sheesh…
LOL
You’ll be fighting before you even get settled into the game. I nearly lost 2 cities the first time I played!
I’m the type of Civ player who concentrate on multiple cities with huge populations, building great works, discovering new lands, increasing the size of my economy. I just want my cities to be a beacon of culture.
I always build barracks before anything else but I don’t seek to dominate.
Now on the PC version…I often start with ‘raging barbarians’ but I usually don’t start picking fights w/other civs until the middle ages when the civs invade my space by settling their cities too near to mine. It pisses me off…lol
So the aggressiveness of the other civs in ‘Revolution’ took some getting used to. I dare not play at the highest level…I’d get wiped out!
Some things I’d change:
-Music! I need music! That’s one of the best things about the Civ game series.
-I wish the 360 version had more options in creating your world. It’d be nice to control the game pace. I always play on ‘marathon’.
But—this is a good game, I think.
4 Stars More Civ = More Fun
This isn’t the full Civilization experience, I’ll grant you, but it’s enough to hook you. Consider this game the gateway to Civilization. You can pick this game up and play right away and get much of the same experience as (the far superior) PC version.
But comparisons don’t really fit between strategy games on consoles and PCs. PCs rule this area because of the controls available on the keyboard and mouse and the customization. So taking Civ Rev as it is (pretend there was no Civ on PC) and we would all love it.
Sure there are some glitches: not being able to change city production to Gold, how quickly we move through the modern era, etc. But overall this is the best strategy game on Xbox.
I can still sit down for a brief Civ game and end up hours later asking where the time went. This game has that “One more turn…” that makes all the Civ games special.
For that, I highly recommend this game. Especially at the low price point.
