Dynasty Warriors 6

Dynasty Warriors 6

Based on the epic novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the genre defining series depicts the massive battles ignited by the fall of the Han Dynasty when three rebellious states moved to overthrow the Emperor of China. Featuring a new proprietary combat engine, Dynasty Warriors 6 delivers the exhilaration of single-handedly destroying thousands of soldiers on massive fields of combat. The lightning-fast, kung-fu fighting, fluid motion-captured animation, intuitive combat system and immersive environments create an unparalleled gaming experience, and push the limits of tactical action.

4 Stars Still good, but getting old
Much as I love the hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors franchise, DW6 should have been a big leap forward as KOEI moved to next-gen and it really isn’t.

Don’t get me wrong, the graphics are gorgeous and the PS2 lag I loathed so much is gone. Some of the other buggy issues are still there, though, like when you’re fighting an officer and he keeps disappearing because there are too many characters on the screen. And though an improvement from DW5, the navigation of DW6 could have learned a lot from the DW:Orochi games.

A major win for DW6 is that the story feels much more integrated, instead of incidental like older versions. There are more primary characters, and their histories are fleshed out to make some compelling reasons to fight. To that end, DW6 takes a slight departure in making the game more about the leader and less about the clan, and I’ll be interested to see the hardcore fan reaction.

For me, though, it’s still one of the best franchises to play co-op with a friend, and I very much look forward to DW6:Empires, due out summer 2009. I just hope KOEI makes a serious commitment to try some new things in DW7.

5 Stars woot
Ive always liked the dynasty series and this one has beaten them all by far. i like the new lvling system and everything. thank you amazon with out you i wouldn’t have this game.

5 Stars Disappointed
I really wanted to enjoy this game. It was entertaining for the first hour then it just got old. Bad draw distance and frustrating controls. Extremely repetitive.

3 Stars Review by PatchTA
DW6 is not as fun as DW4 or DW5. The gameplay/display interface was redone and needs to be worked on. The game is also very grindy and I completed all the campaigns in 3 days. However, I do like the new dynamics added to the maps and graphics.

If your looking to boost your Xbox Live Score quickly, I strongly suggest buying this game used.

1 Stars Absolutely Horrible
Played the first level of this game the day I got it in and I was in total shock and awe at quite a few aspects of it (and not in a good way). The controls are barely par, the graphics look almost as if you’re playing on a Nintendo Wii and it’s just not even fun to play. Maybe the genre just isn’t for me but I HIGHLY recommend renting this title or playing a demo before buying it. I wouldn’t even trade any other title I own to get this one to be honest. Hope this helps and good luck.
