A good surround sound system will cost well over 1000$…Not willing to spend so much I decided to go for a high end Surround sound headphones.
Wanted to use this predominantly for gaming with my PS3
Picked this beast from Fry’s Yesterday and returned it today..
To begin with, the setup is cumbersome..you have two power connectors (one to the base and one to the headphone).1 USB cable running from the PS3 to the base and an optical connection from the PS3 to base….I wasn’t really lazy to do all this..My thought was since the connections are complex, the sound would be super good…But what a dissappointment…The headphones are super heavy to wear and the surround sound from it is not all that astounding to warrant all those complex connections and stuff…Why don’t Tritton just provide prebuilt profiles rather than asking users to setup the way they want ,which by the way is not easy at all if you are not an audiophile…
I really do not understand when some of the other users say it produces incredible sound….
This is a horrible product…I will not recommend this to anyone….

I have owned these for about a month now and im overall pleased,i use them on my ps3 for metal gear wich these excel on vs my surround system. killzone 2 wich there good on too.
JUST WANT TO POINT OUT ONE THING BEFORE YOU READ. COMPARED TO OTHER REVIEWS MINE SET OF AXPRO ARE UPDATED WITH FLEXIBLE MIC AND ONLY 1 AC ADAPTER THE POWERS BOTH THE DOLBY DIGITAL BOX AND HEAD SET. SO 1 LESS CORD
Pros-
Great directional sound, cumfy ear peices,solid construction, wont fall apart easily. great control for drc and seperat channel volume. even a mic volume too. flexible mic for getting it right where u want it or moving it to drink some soda lol. good fit and good manual. Easy setup even with all the wires. long cord so you arent glued right infront of the tv,Great for people who dont live by them selves and want to hear the game or movie how it was measnt to be heard without waking up or pissing off anybody in youre house.If youre a parent and get tired of hearing explosions and guns echoing through the house these will be great for the kids and for you lol.
Cons-
My gf hates them cuz i cant hear her when im wearing them. A little pricy but im my opinion worth it cuz a good surround system will cost more, optical cable that comes with it has to go and dont replace it with another 1 cent amazon optical cord. get a good thick optical cord thats dolby digital certified and these will rock.

I finally got my hands on a pair of Turtle Beach Earforce P21’s and they are for the PS3! these things are amazing! i can’t begin to tell you the sound that comes out of these monsters! All pros NO cons! The one thing you’ll notice off the batt is the fit, they designed them so amazing that the comfort level is off the charts! And the sound?…the sound?…I heard things in COD:World at War that I never heard with my expensive surround sound set-up! And to hear everything that’s being said during Ncaa Football 10 is amazing!
So please dont waste money on this headset, trust me and buy the Earforce P21s.
2 Stars Very delicate. Not for the heavy user
I use headphones on a daily basis on my computer. Both for gaming and watching movies.
At first I was really impressed with the sound quality and indeed it is pretty nice. However, the plastic it is made from is poor and can’t take a heavy user.
Two months is all it took to break apart. First it was the “detachable” microphone. I would only leave it on for games, then take it off when watching movies. After a few weeks, the plastic that twists to hold it broke off. I could still use it, though, if I simply pushed the mic in, rather than twist it.
The problem came with the rotating ear muffs. The right and left speakers are connected through an inner cable that goes through the axis of the rotating muff. This axis is poorly protected and eventually, after a two months of daily use, it chewed on the cables, killing the right speakers.
Finally, the two power adapter thing is cumbersome.
I recommend getting the Logitech G35 7.1-Channel Surround Sound Headset. It’s 7.1. (rather than 5.1) and much much cheaper.
