3 Stars Just Alright
I originally bought this game for the PC and really enjoyed it. So, I bought the Xbox 360 edition for my boyfriend for Christmas.
The campaign doesn’t exactly “suck you in” but it’s entertaining. Fans of previous Quake games will most likely enjoy it. The enemy AI isn’t the most impressive thing in the world, but it’s still fun to mindlessly blow them away over and over again. It would be great if this game featured co-op campaign. (Maybe we’ll see it in future Quake games.)
The environments are well designed and fun to look it. The graphics are hindered by the bad frame-rate, though. (This doesn’t seem present in the PC version.)
The multilayer is just the standard FPS game-types. It’s entertaining but fails to bring anything new to the table. It still is great fun to play with friends despite it’s blandness.
The bad frame-rate does show through when playing over Xbox Live. It didn’t bother my boyfriend and I because it was very minor, but it might bother someone with a slow to moderate Internet connection.
Overall, this game is alright for the Xbox 360. I’d recommend it to Quake and DOOM fans. If you’re looking for something fresh and innovative, however, this isn’t the game for you.
4 Stars Quake 4
The game has a great single player experience. However, due to its age, hardly anyone plays it online anymore. Each time I have tried to join an online multiplayer game I have not been connected with anyone. I find it hard to believe that no one in the U.S. was playing at each of those times, but that is what happened. Also, compared to more recent games, it is disappointing that the game does not include a split-screen deathmatch or co-op mode.
4 Stars $7.50 used, what a steal. I would not spend $50 on this game though.
Nice game, They do rip off a lot of weapons from Unreal Tournament though. The game is constructed nicely and unlike Call of Duty this game is rendered a lot better and does not hurt my eyes. I would not spend more then $25 on this game new though.
5 Stars They don’t make ‘em like this anymore!!!!
What I refer to as a classic. If modern game creators could only match the incredible depth of story line, cut scenes, graphics and game play of some of yester-years true classics. Technology has certainly, in my opinion, outpaced creativity in the video game market. I yearn for a new game (or sequel to a classic) that will involve me like this game continues to do………..
3 Stars Like a less remarkable Doom 3, in HD, and Frame Rate Issues
The game has good graphics overall. Enemies are good too. But, the game is boring during the first half, it gets better towards the end. The game suffers from frame rate issues when many enemies are in the screen, specially surrounding you. I played Doom 3 in the xbox 1 and there wasn’t frame rate issues and the graphics were the same, only that it wasn’t HD. All in all, the Doom 3 on the xbox was a technological achievement, but this one a tech disappointment because the xbox 360 is far more capable to suffer from this frame rate issues.
