User Ratings and Reviews
3 Stars A decent game
I don’t buy many games because I’ve been glued to the Call of Duty series since the COD 3. I had a Amazon credit for a video game so I was looking for a cheap game to pick up. I chose this because I was interested in a flying game and the graphics looked liked they’d be cool to look at in HD. This game is decently entertaining. The graphics are not as great as I expected based on the video preview and some other reviews, but they’re ok. I was disappointed that some planes do not have cockpit views. I completed many missions but to be perfectly honest many times I end up just flying around until I get bored. There has never been any online multiplayer any time I’ve tried. Overall this game is short term entertainment but lacks excitement.
4 Stars Grew tired of it before i finished the game.
This is a pretty realistic flight game so realistic in fact that it made me dizzy and i was constantly swaying from side to avoid thigs. The graphics are also fantastic and flow very smoothly. There is no real back story so you dont waste time watching silly graphics however you do spend a lot of time for the game loading (there are alot of graphics and the game play is pretty open). The missions do take some time to complete and were pretty easy but tedious on the arcade level. I dont think i ever died more than 3 times per mission and you restart exactly where you left off. My one complaint is you have to finish the mission to save the game (this is done automatically) and since missions can take 45 minutes you better have no interuptions. After 6 missions or so the game did not offer anything new and I gave up as it was making me somewhat dizzy from my plane going up and down and spinning round and round.
I am a non gamer who hates games that you can not open and play right off the bat. I miss the days of atari and nintendo donkey kong. With that being said IL 2 Sturmovik was pretty easy to get the hang of and fun right off the bat.
3 Stars IL Sturmovik 2
The initial gameplay fulfills the desire to pilot WWII european theatre aircraft, but can get a little boring after a while with repetative missions. Easy is a bit too easy, and the jump to the next difficulty is somewhat major. It will be one of those games i play for a few days, then set down for a month or two before returning, but i will return. Piloting is more realistic and camera angles are better than other similar games out at this time.
5 Stars IL-2 Sturmovick: Birds of Prey For the Xbox
I have the PC version of this game also. The only thing that this game doesn’t have is all the user expansions that are available for the game. The simulation does run smoother on the Xbox than on my PC which is a real plus. Hope there are other ports of the IL-2 Games to the Xbox.
3 Stars ok but not great
The game is ok as long as you don’t compare it to something like Ace Combat or Hawx. It is a little clunky and difficult to understand at first but it is fun for a casual flyer and not someone looking for extreme dog fights or lock on missiles.
